Hiring a personal chef in the UK or Europe is now easy and cost effective with prices comparable to eating out in a restaurant for numbers above 4. But what are you paying for and how exactly does it all work?
Well the main focus of Dineindulge is to provide a restaurant quality experience in the comfort of your own home or holiday accommodation and to make this quick & easy to book and accessible to everyone.
The first question you need to ask is what type of meal are you looking for? This might depend on a number of factors including the type of service (restaurant style experience or regular support), type of event it is (party, holiday, family get together, formal, informal etc), where it is (your home or holiday accommodation, UK or Europe etc), the type of food you’d like and of course the budget you have available.
- Type of Service – are you looking to book a private chef for an occasion or couple of special meals, like going to a restaurant, or to hire a personal chef on a more regular basis such as for support at home in the kitchen or during an extended stay away?

- Type of Event – this will often impact what type of menu you choose. For example, if you have an informal gathering of friends then a BBQ, Platter or Sharing menu would work well. However, if you’re having a formal dinner party then a Tasting menu may be more appropriate.
- Where is Your Event taking place? If you’re planning a meal at home in the UK in the Winter then you may find something like our Platter Relax menu ideal where as for a summer holiday in Ibiza, the Spanish paella option may be more appropriate!
- Type of Food – when you envisage your event and the idea of hiring a personal chef what type of food do you imagine having? Are you looking for luxury and indulgence? Or do you want something simple and relaxed?

So how much does a Private Chef cost to hire?
Prices start from £24.99 per head for a 2-Course Express menu (€29.99 in Europe) and go up to £119.99 per head for our 10-Course Beyond menu (149.99€ in Europe) and so not only can a personal chef offering meet most requirements they can also meet most budgets. But it does depend on your expectation and whether you have the budget to meet the vision you had in your mind!

What do you get for that price?
Unlike in a restaurant, when you hire a private chef their entire time and focus is dedicated to just you and your guests. So with the exclusive use of a personal chef’s time there is a minimum spend requirement for that. Therefore, you will need a minimum number of guests if you don’t want to be paying premium charges per head. For example, when hiring a private chef whether for 2 heads or 20 you’ll almost certainly have to book them out for the whole day. On top of this they’ll be traveling to you and doing all the shopping, the time of which doesn’t really change much based on how many guests you have. Finally, with economies of scale there is a minimum cost of doing a food shop for a given number of people.
As such, the per head prices quoted will normally be based on a head count of 6 or more people although our Deluxe 10-Course Beyond menu at £119.99 os based on just 3 guests. Therefore, if you’re going for smaller numbers than this you’ll still have to pay for that number of heads so always be aware of this and understand why it is the case.
And finally… What do they actually do?
A private chef will come to your home or accommodation with all the food, prepare and cook it for you onsite giving you that experience of a chef cooking for you, then serve each course to you explaining what it is before doing a full clean down of your kitchen. It’s that simple!

Chris our chef was fantastic. I decided to hire a chef and went with Dineindulge for a BBQ for my Birthday. We went for the premium BBQ package which had loads of amazing food, the salmon and the jerk chicken were incredible. Michael the personal chef was very professional arriving with plenty of time to set up and go through everything. I spoke to the team before the event and he asked me to double check the BBQ was working which was a good job as it was out of gas.
Scott, our private chef, arrived around 2 hours before our meal start time. We showed him the kitchen and he set to work preparing a delicious dinner with absolutely no fuss. While we were enjoying a relaxing pre dinner drink , he let us know everything was ready. We sat down to a wonderful five course meal. Each course was excellent. We were able to add some excellent wines which we would never have bought in a restaurant. Scott served each course and cleared up afterwards. He washed all the dishes and left the kitchen spotless. We had a very memorable night as part of a significant family celebration. I would unreservedly recommend Dineindulge and will use their services again.
We had a private dining experience for my husband’s 70th birthday and I have to say that our chef was amazing. We were a party of 8 and the food was served at the same time, was hot and absolutely delicious. At the end of the evening we were amazed that the kitchen was left spotlessly clean too. Considering that we were hiring a private chef in London the price was really affordable too. Definitely going to use again and I would highly recommended it to anyone!
