Our chef Julien was lovely and obviously very skilled. He did a great job and left the kitchen spotless but unfortunately he had a nasty and very persistent cough which we could hear during his food preparation and throughout our meal. He appeared at times to be quite unwell (coughing and sweating) which made us uneasy:- both concerned for his wellbeing and to a lesser extent for our own health, given we had all worn masks on the long haul flight from Australia in an attempt to protect ourselves from Covid and other illnesses during our holiday. The fish and steak were both cooked to perfection. We had a number of anllergy issues which Julian managed seamlessly, although we were a little disappointed that the dishes designated to contain “fresh strawberries” were replaced with strawberry jam as no fresh strawberries were available. We were also unclear why the “eggs and soldiers” was missing the meringue although Julien said some meringue shavings were present with the white chocolate shavings…we couldn’t detect them. Overall the evening was a lovely (aside from the constant coughing) unique experience and one we will not forget. Thank you

Chef was excellent. Communicated well. Made it look effortless and left kitchen spotless. With a few small tweaks the menu could have been excellent but in fairness was very good as was the presentation. 5 is a hard score to get which shows how highly we rated the chef on the day.

You had given the chef the wrong address at 2 Higher Downs he said . The address was correctly completed and you have been to us before . Therefore it was stressful for both of us that he couldn’t find the house . However from arrival he was very professional and we enjoyed ourselves .
